Where do you begin when you've been MIA for three weeks? I feel like every post lately is a "catch-up" post. This all has to do with a little bit of busyness and laziness. But nonetheless, here I am and here's the scoop!
I've been spending lots of time doing admin work for Steve. I wake up early in the mornings with him and work when Peyton naps. I like it a lot actually, and some days/weeks are busier than others for me, so it's not a constant stress, but more like a temporary little side job that helps him out immensely.
Peyton is down to one long, three hour afternoon nap and has been since we got back from Carlsbad (that's when it all started, for there wasn't enough time in the day for two naps while on vacay!) am I'm really loving this. SO, I've been trying to keep us busy during the long morning stretch before he naps around 1ish. At this point in the summer, it's too dang hot to do ANYTHING outside anymore, including the splash pad, and really, any outside activities that we have once enjoyed are completely overrated now. So we've been getting creative and counting down the days until Fall rolls around... 60 more days... Halloween is when we
finally get some sort of relief around here, in my mind!
We took a four day trip to Flagstaff earlier this summer and had lots of fun at Grandma & Grandpa Olson's house where we went swimming at Bear Paw, helped Grandpa mow the lawn, went to a Farmer's Market, and spent lots of time with GiGi.
Julie started school on Aug 10th and is at a new Jr High this year. She absolutely loves the new school and kids. I'm SOOOO happy for her! My mom, Peyton and I visited her on her first day of school. She showed us around the campus and gave Peyton a musical instrument tour:

| Peyton's absolute fav! |

| With the flute being a very close second. ;) |

| Aunt Julie's pick - the clarinet! |

And last but not least, the Trumpet.... yeah,
we'll keep our thoughts to ourselves with this
one. :) |
My dad, Peyton and I took a very short trip to Colorado to visit Peyton's Great Grandma Cortney. We flew out on a Friday morning, spent the day with her, woke up Saturday and spent the whole day with her again, then flew home that night. Peyton and his Great Grandma had lots of quality time together and it's a trip that won't be forgotten. Mission accomplished! Many people thought this was a big task to do with a 1 year old and asked if my Grandma was sick -- but no, she's doing great! She's 94 though, so time is precious with her. :) Peyton did fantastic on both flights (a little rowdy on the way home, but still did wonderful) and was on his best behavior. I love this easy going kid and pray, pray, PRAY that the next one is just as good!

August 14th was Steve's 31st birthday. We went to breakfast then headed over to his parents house where we swam and BBQ'd. We dunked Peyton under water (very quickly!) 3-4 times over an hour and he did really good. He didn't cry or choke. He was just startled and didn't know what to think when he came up for air. Swim lessons are on the agenda for next summer!

We went bowling with our friends Genny & Ryan a few weeks ago. Peyton's never been before and LOVED it. Afterwards, they came back to our house and we put Peyton down then watched a movie with them.
This past weekend Steve's parents offered to come over and babysit so Steve and I could have a date night. They came over and we had no idea what to do! Talk about lame! haha. We couldn't agree on a movie, so that was out. We didn't wanna do the normal dinner thing, so that was out. We were gonna go to Night Splash at Sun Splash water park but it was lightening (& if you know Steve, then you know that was a BIG OUT). Next idea was to go to
Airworx, because that looks like so.much.fun! Well, after we arrived, we realized there wasn't anyone in there over the age of 15... so that was out! After we sat in the car forever, we finally decided to head into Phoenix and check out the new
CityScape area. Success! :) We ended up at Copper Blues where we ran into Steve-O from Jackass (who was performing at the Comedy Club next door). We had a few beers and bites and an overall good time. We checked out
Lucky Strike next door and that place is awesome! It was a potential 30th birthday party location which has turned into a definite 30th birthday party location. I can't wait for it now!!!!!
