Little Man.

Peyton went to his little buddy Owen's 2nd Birthday Party last weekend.  I can't believe it's been two years since I wrote a post about the day he was born.  Seems like yesterday!  Read it here.

The theme was "Little Man" and it was ah-dor-able!  Talk about a moment of, "why didn't I think of that?!"  I mean, how many times do we call our boys "little men?"  Here's proof of the cuteness!

Place the mustache on the little man.
Cupcakes, "cigars", cookies, chocolate mustaches!
Party favors that followed the theme.
Each kid got a shirt.
Mustache bottle toppers.
Giving the birthday boy some lovin.
Megan, Bryan, and Owen.
Chocolate stache.
Best Friends Forever!

As I said when Owen was born, Peyton's next!  And now what I mean is, Peyton's next to turn two!  Less than two months away.  I need to get busy planning!  For those who follow, his party is on March 11th - Save the Date!!!!!

Steve look-alike.

I ran across this pic and about died!  It looks JUST like Peyton!  I'm not sure how old Steve is in the pic, but he's gotta be around Peyton's age.  I showed it to a few people and they actually thought it was Peyton and wondered why he was dressed like that.  HAHA!

PS - just as I was about to take the blame for the redish tone in Peyton's hair, I found the real culprit!  ;)

CaLiFoRnIa!

Last Sunday - Tuesday, Steve, Peyton, and I went to Los Angels for a seminar Steve had.  We figured we might as well make a family trip out of it!

We departed the Olson Chateau Sunday morning and made our way into LA that evening.  We actually stayed in Woodland Hills which is right next to Calabasas.  And if you're a fan of reality tv, then you'd know that Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey lived there (back in the day), Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett live there, as well as the Kardashiahs.  Just to name a few.  :)

The many looks of Peyton on our way there!

Ear pressure - yikes.

He got so giddy when he saw the windmills!

Los Angeles Skyline

So we drove around Calabasas Sunday night after we checked into our room.  It's so beautiful and in the mountains.  We ate dinner and came back to our hotel.  Peyton stayed up with us until around 11pm when we finally went to bed and put him in his crib.  He wasn't happy about it at all and bawled himself to sleep. :(

We got an upgrade to the City Suite
(basically a city view)

Peyton kept saying, "WOW!" and running to the window.
He loved all the lights outside!

Next on Peyton's to-do list:  check out
everything else in the room!

Monday we woke up and enjoyed ourselves a little continental breakfast.  Steve worked a bit, then we headed to Malibu.  We drove by some real estate agents homes who Steve drools over (HIGH producers).  We saw the Coldwell Banker office where a few of the agents work who are on Million Dollar Listing (reality tv show).  Overall, we had a nice time driving around Malibu, imagining what it would be like to be one of those big-time agents.  Someday!

Looking out the window in the morning.

Then we headed to Paradise Cove for lunch.  It was off the road, but we saw a sign and lots of people turning into it.  Turns out it's a beautiful restaurant on the beach in a cove in Malibu.  Lots of movies and commercials had been shot in that cove area, so it was a good choice!

Hanging out, waiting for our table:

Lunch Time!

Afterwards we headed to the Santa Monica pier.  We walked around for awhile and headed back to our hotel.
Saw the green flash as the sun set over the ocean.

Tuesday, Steve was off to his seminar before we woke up.  Once Peyton and I rolled out of bed, we had a leisurely morning getting ready and again, eating the continental breakfast.  When Steve got back around 1pm, Peyton was OUT on the bed, and it was SO hard to wake him up because he'd been going, going, going since Saturday morning and this was his first real nap since then.  But, we had to check out and head home, so we woke him up and I felt so bad.

We stopped by DASH on our way out of town.  DASH is the clothing store owned by the Kardashian sisters in Calabasas.  If you ever watch their show, you'll see it on there once in awhile.  It was a super cute shop, very small, and a t-shirt that said, "DASH" on it was $50.  And that was the cheapest thing in there, unless you wanted to buy a blinged out pencil that said Kardashian on it for $5.  HA!  I must say, all the jewelry and clothing looked just like something they would wear, so that was pretty cool.  I actually saw some things I think I have seen them wearing on their show.

However, one of the things I really, really wanted to buy was a Mackenzie-Childs teapot.  Yes, out of all their clothes, I wanted a teapot!  I just recently got into Mackenzie-Childs and am totally going to start collecting her courtly check ceramics.  This will be my fine china that I will probably spend several years (decades even?) collecting.  I LOVE it.  Anyway, they had the courtly check teapot sitting out and it seemed so odd they would have this in their store - so I asked if it was for sale and they said it was a leftover teapot from the Kardashian Christmas Party - they gave each guest a teapot as a gift.  It even had a tag on it that said, "Get Your Jingle On!  Love, the Kardashians and Jenners."  OMG!  I wanted this specific one badly now, what a great story for my first piece of Mackenzie-Childs!  But, I passed it up.  :)

So we then were on our merrily little way home.  Once we fought the LA rush hour traffic, we were good to go.  We arrived back at the Olson Chateau around 12:30am.  It was a fabulous trip and we all spent the next 4 days recovering and getting Peyton back on schedule.  He fought going to bed the next few nights.  He ran a 102 degree temp on Friday.  But, by Saturday we were all back to normal!

Now we're counting down the days till we go back to Cali - in July!!!!

Last Weekend.

Last weekend was the start of a fun and busy week!  I'm finally coming down from it all, although Peyton is now sick with a fever of 102 at it's highest today.  :(

Last Friday, Peyton, Ginger and I spent the day with my friend Genny.  She came over and the four of us walked to La Grande Orange (LGO) for some coffee and brunch.  It's exactly a mile from my house and it was such a beautiful day out, so it was the perfect thing to do.  After brunch, we walked a little further to a park down the street.  Peyton went down the big boy slide, you know, the curly one that's on the big kid play set.  :)  He LOVED it!  When we got back, Peyton napped while Genny and I watched Moulin Rouge and ate kettle corn.  I absolutely love, love, love that movie and have been singing the soundtrack all week!
Fun at LGO!
Fun at the park!
He was watching Ginger, who was walking
next to his stroller, and then passed out.  :)
Saturday morning my mom and Bob came over to see Peyton and pick up Ginger.  They dogsat for us while we went to Cali.  After his nap, my dad came over and Steve and I escaped for a beer and movie.  We saw Beauty & the Beast in 3D at the AMC Esplanade that now serves beer like the iPic Theaters.  I have to say, I got very buzzed and it felt so wrong.  haha.  Anyway, I loved that movie as a little girl and Steve had never seen it, so he was a trooper and never even complained!  (I think he secretly really wanted to see it too.)

When we got back home, my sister Julie had come over and we all rushed to LGO Pizzeria where we met Steve's parents for dinner.  They have amazing pizza!  It was my first time eating there and it was spectacular.

After dinner, I was WIPED.  But, while we were in the movie, Steve got a text from his (kinda) friend Brady (host of the 98 KUPD morning show) who said he was able to get us free tickets for the Norm Macdonald comedy show at Stand Up Live at CityScape.  So, off we went!  We got home around midnight and I was so exhausted, but it was a great show!

That next morning we headed to California for a seminar Steve had on Tuesday.  More to come on the trip!

A year ago today.

I was looking through my pictures, which is a dangerous thing to do simply because it can easily consume my entire day without me even knowing it until it's too late.  But, I was looking for a picture of Peyton from a year ago today, just to see what he looked like and to see how far he's come.  And you know I had one from exactly a year ago today since I took them all.the.time during his first year!

What I found is truly bittersweet....

Trying to crawl at Aunt Julie's school:

Sucking his fingers:

Our little man today:
LOVES to watch the wash machine.  I can't
do laundry anymore without him rushing to
watch it.

Loves the backyard:
