TV!

What a great night for television!

American Idol, how have I not blogged about it before now?!  I can't wait to see who gets kicked off tonight.  Side note, did anyone watch The Voice on Tuesday?  I kinda dug it.  Anyway, I'm hoping Jacob gets the boot, followed by Lauren and Scotty, with the final three being Casey, Haley, and James Durbin (doesn't his name already sound perfect for the music industry?).  If any of those three win, I'd be happy, although I've been rooting for Haley since day one, so my votes go to her.

Here's a pic of my friends and I when we drove to Hollywood for the Season Finale of American Idol in 2008... The David's.  Now THAT was a fun trip and totally spur of the moment.  Ahhh, memories.  :)

Next we have Michael's final farewell on The Office tonight.  I haven't been following the show lately, but am sure to watch this episode.  Rumor has it that Will Ferrell will be replacing Steve Carrell as boss.  We'll see!

Finally we have The Royal Wedding.  Have to admit, I could've cared less about this 3 days ago.  But I'm getting pretty excited with all the coverage that's going on.  I kinda secretly wish that I was throwing a girls party tomorrow to watch this, with champagne, royal food, decorations, the whole thing.  THAT would make it exciting!  Side note, I love Kate and think she's absolutely gorgeous, however I've never thought Prince William was cute.  Oh well, I still love them both anyway!

A few other things on our Tivo that I have yet to watch is Desperate Housewives (actually, we attempted to watch it the other night but I fell fast asleep) and Khloe & Lamar.

I hope you enjoy The Royal Wedding, because I'm sure you will be watching!  xoxo

Easter Weekend

Friday afternoon (after some shopping with my mom), Steve, Peyton and I headed to Steve's parents house in Flagstaff for the weekend.  We had a great time up there (it was cold!) and Peyton did great in the car and pack n play (thank goodness, we have several vacay's coming up!  Although the altitude change coming home was horrible on his ears).  It was a much needed relaxing and fun weekend!

First haircut (& then some).

Oh where to begin?  It's been so long!  (oops!)

To catch you up, I'll just talk basics.  Let's start with last weekend and Peyton's first haircut!

After finally justifying that Peyton did indeed need a haircut, we set out last Saturday to Snip It's.  He really did a great job overall.  He sat so still the whole time, it was kinda funny that he knew to do that.  He cried just a bit at first, but it was more of a "get-your-hands-off-of-me-lady, you're-freakin-me-out!" cry.  We laughed so hard at him sitting in the chair with the cover over him, looking like a grown man!

I was surprised at how dark his hair was that she cut.  But it makes since, he had a lot of brown hair when he was born.  I think the "new" stuff is more blonde.  There were some pieces as long as 3 inches!
"Before"  A little shaggy.
"What are you doing to me?!"
"Can I get down now?!"
Afterwards, we headed to the splash pad in downtown Gilbert for his first time.  I knew he would be in LOVE.  That he was!  He spent about 30 minutes screeching, laughing, and just being so joyful.  He pointed at the water and said, "DAH" in his stern, yet playful voice.  He must've said it over 500 times and by the end, that's all I could hear in my head.  Agh!  :)  He thankfully didn't crawl around it too much, he just picked a spot next to the water and hung out - the ground was so rough and we didn't realize he'd need knee pads (ha ha joking, but it wouldn't have hurt!)  So next time, we'll make sure we go to a padded splash pad (after all, they are called splash pads!  :))

Friday night, (I'm out of order, oh well!) Joan treated the family to an ASU women's softball game.  It was our first ever, and Peyton's first sporting event.  What a fun thing to do & we got to meet Sparky!   He was in heaven with all the people, music and action.  He did fantastic with it all.  We got some yogurt afterwards and it turned into a very late night for him.  He fell right to sleep on the way home and slept till 8:45a the next day.  God bless this child!!!  :)

Going Private?

If any of you are wondering what's taking me so long to secure my blog, well, it's because I'm reconsidering.  My biggest dilemma is knowing that ANYONE and EVERYONE (scary strangers) in the world can follow my life.  Sometimes it's neat, but most of the time it freaks me out.  The internet can be a scary thing!

On the flip side, I love that my friends and family can easily check my blog with no hassle.  I like (although this also freaked me out at first) that I once got a post published on Rustler's Rooste's Facebook page for tagging them in one of my blogs.  Not that I'm trying to get famous here, but it was pretty flattering.

So anyway, until I someday decide to go private, I've kept note of everyone that's requested to continue following me.  Until then, I'll keep on keepin on!

Sicky Sicky.

I've been so proud of myself for not catching the gawd awful virus that's been going around for, ohh seven (?) months now.  And I'm still pretty sure I didn't, but my goodness, it felt like I did!

Last Wednesday, we went to Joe's Farm Grill for dinner and within 2.5 hours, I felt sick.  Two more hours later, and I was vomiting and well, you get the gist.  I had been food poisoned and it was HORRIBLE.  I actually thought during the whole (literally) mess that I would've rather been going through child birth.  I spent a whole night in the bathroom.  Never in my life have I done that.

The next day, the dehydration set in.  And I'm talking severe dehydration.  Thank goodness my dad was able to come over and watch Peyton, I had no energy to even walk up the stairs, let alone pick him up out of his crib.  I had muscle aches and couldn't get warm.  I don't wish that upon ANYONE!  Let me tell you, when you're sick like that, it really makes you see how important your health is.  Without it, you couldn't do anything.  Nothing.  Your health is really the most important thing in your life!

Anyway, on top of thinking I'd rather be going through child birth, (no exaggeration) I also thought I am so thankful I got sick and not Peyton (notice I didn't say Steve.  haha just kidding!)  Fast forward two days and wham!, Peyton got sick.  He threw up once on Saturday evening and I spent the next three days changing diaper after diaper.  He was also dehydrated and that's SCARY.  He's much better today and is starting to eat and drink like normal.  Hallelujah!

I'm still not sure what hit this household, but I'm glad it's out.  And I hate to waste your time with this post, because I know we've all been dreadfully sick before, but it's just one of those things I felt needed to be published.  :)  There, I feel better now!

Silly Daddy

Here's a video I wanted to share of Steve making Peyton laugh.  He had him laughing so hard before he started taking the video, that Peyton spit up all over himself & me, and then got the hiccups!  I think hearing a baby belly laugh is one of the best sounds there is.  Enjoy!

Nose, Milk, & More

On Sunday at the BBQ, Joan told us that Peyton can point to his nose.  We first thought, "No way!" but sure enough, he can!!  She said she's been teaching him over the past few Friday's she's been babysitting and I have a book called Bubbles Bubbles that I've been reading to him since he was a newborn, that has a part where I always point to his nose.  I can't believe it, he points to it every time!

Just when I thought the sign language had failed us, he started doing it out of no where.  This is exactly what everyone who does sign language with their child has told me.  He now shows us "milk" and "more" without any help.  It's truly amazing!  His "more" sign looks a bit like clapping, but is definitely "more."  I'm gonna start adding other signs, as I got pretty discouraged and stopped a lot of them.

Our weekend!

First off, this is my 200th post!  =)

We had a great weekend.  I went into the office with Steve on Friday again, and was in there for a bit on Thursday, had GOTR on Monday and Wednesday, so needless to say, this was a week where I was away from Peyton for probably the most I've even been.  By the time Friday afternoon rolled around, I missed Peyton like never before.  We rushed home for some quality time with Peyton, a Barro's dinner, and then bed time for us all.

Side track a bit, Peyton's doing much better at bed time, he no longer cries when we put him down.  Phew!  However, the crying has been transferred to bath time.  He cries when I give him a bath and just wants OUT.  He pulls himself up while crying and he's so slippery that it's scary.  At first I thought he knew bath time lead into bed time, so decided to cry then instead.  Then I thought, no, he just wants out to play.  A week later I figured it out - he's afraid of bath time now!  I started pouring the water over his head and it gets into his eyes now, so he hates the cup and when I turn the water on.  It freaks him out and he just wants nothing to do with it!  So I now get the bath ready before he's in the bathroom and I'm more careful about the water getting into his eyes and he's doing much better.  Thursday night was the last rough night in the bath, but it was the worst night in the bath also.  I think when I had to leave him all day Friday after such a hard night before, it made for a VERY hard day being away from him and I felt guilty for what happened the night before.

Anyway, Saturday we went to The Monastery for Keller William's Family Day.  It was fun and just nice to be outside.  All the ladies love Peyton, and now all of their kids do too.  I think we must've found about 5 new girls who want to babysit him!

Sunday Peyton and I went to Reagan's second birthday party.  It was fun to be outside again and play with friends.  Mandy had a cute Elmo themed party, complete with Dorthy the Fish  party favors.  It was a good time!

As soon as we got home, we freshened up and headed to another party right down the road.  Joan's good friend from work was throwing a BBQ for her newly married son and his baby that's on the way.  We had a fun time there and didn't get home until 7:30pm.  Peyton went all day without a nap (except for a snooze in the car) and we didn't have any meltdowns!  Just smiles, kisses, and laughs!  He slept until 8:15 this morning, so he was definitely a tired boy.

Just yesterday morning Peyton cruised the whole couch, turned the corners and all.  Reagan's birthday party was the first time that he truly needed to be wearing shoes and I was SO excited about it!  Silly, but such a huge step (no pun intended!)  To make it even more silly, when we got home, I noticed there was dirt all over his feet and in his toes, and the bottom of his shoes were all nasty.  I thought that was so cool!  HA!

I hope you all had a great weekend too!
