Dennis spent the majority of his time with the Phoenix PD in the homicide department and I've heard many interesting stories from both Steve and him about this venture. Many of which include movie-like plots and things that nearly traumatized me just listening.
He also spent some time in the Kidnapping department and most recently in the ATF (Alcohol Tobacco Firearms) department, where he worked for "the 'F' part." HA! (Funny, and true, story: Steve's little brother Ryan once got pulled over and he told the cop his dad worked in the ATF. The cop asked which part and Ryan said, "The 'F' Part." HAHA!)
Steve's mom, Joan, has been a Supervisor with the 911 department for nearly 30 years now and is close to retirement herself. If there's anyone who could understand a man who's able to do this type of work, it would be a woman in the field as well. :)
Steve's dad is an amazing man. A dedicated father and husband, and clearly strong willed and a hard worker. It brought tears to my eyes to hear his colleagues speak so highly of him. He's truly a very loyal man.
We had fun celebrating at Aunt Chilada's a few weekends ago {dang, no pictures!} and we went to his official retirement ceremony, where Peyton did such a great job throughout the whole thing, and added his own laughing soundtrack - every time the crowd would laugh and it would die down, Peyton would then laugh as loud as he could. He had the whole crowd laughing at him and talking about him. He was such a joy that day.
