We spent the 4th of July in true American fashion - at the ball park! My mom and Bob treated us to the Diamondbacks game and it was so.much.FUN! We're usually in Carlsbad during the 4th, but it was so neat to be home for it this year.
It was Peyton's first baseball game. He loved it and did so well! Bob had cracker jax waiting for him and we chowed on peanuts, hot dogs, and nachos. I thought we'd have to take him to the kids play area but he was so entertained by the food, game, and excitement that we had no time for that!
After the game was an AMAZEBALLS firework display. We haven't seen a display up close and personal, to music and everything, in years (we're usually on the beach watching about 5 different displays down the coast, which isn't bad either, but this was the real deal at the ballpark). We sat right in our seats for the show and let me tell you - we had the best seats and it was air conditioned - perfecto!
It was so moving to hear the patriotic songs in line with the firework display. It was very loud and it took Peyton about 10 minutes to warm up. He literally didn't move an inch and just sat there watching them. Then, he warmed up and started pointing out the colors... "BLUE!!!..... YELLOW!!.... GREEN!!" etc.
It must've been all the excitement, because Peyton was smiling extremely goofy! I told him to "smile showing your teeth" after getting pics of him looking like this (WTF? HA!!!):
So then, I got pics like this, this, and this!:
What kind of evil demon has come over my child?! haha! We were laughing so hard at these! BUT, wait for it... it gets better. Here's an attempt at a cute family pic gone wrong... really wrong!
Drum Roll Please....................................................................................................................................... ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
HAHAHA! This time I told him to "smile with your teeth" and that must've thrown him waaay off, trying to make his teeth smile. ;)
Here he is enjoying his first ever, Cracker Jax:
And sharing with Gaga & Tata (see, no evil demon has come over my child!):
Seeing Aunt Julie!
While we were waiting outside for Julie to come down, Peyton kept pointing to the stadium saying, "Ball?! Ball?!" and I was like, "I don't see a ball over there." Then finally realized he was saying baseball game. He was so excited!
Here we are going up the escalator to the game:
And this doesn't do it justice, but the firework show!
And a fun little collage to leave you with:
